When faced with such a broad word "abandoned" i felt i could definitely collect a wide range of images to evoke the feeling abandonment with natural and artificial light sources.
To start with I entered the word "Abandoned" into an online dictionary and it threw back the following thought provoking words and sentences;
Forsaken, deserted, given up, extremely wicked, sinning without restraint, irreclaimable wicked, left desolate, abandoned child, deserted villages, no longer inhabited, free from constraint and abandoned sadness born of grief.

This image was taken in a deserted car park and i focused the colour into the center of the image to create a 'drained' effect as if the car park was dull and lifeless. Artificial light was used from the strip lighting.
This Image was taken in Barcelona and was an old entrance to a shop, I felt this image captured the essence of abandonment as the vivid colours of the graffiti contrast the gloomy scene of a closed down shop. The harsh sunlight provided my lighting for this image.
This image was taken in an old abandoned warehouse in Barrow-In-Furness. When i first came across the jacket my first thoughts were that it looked like an old fisherman's jacket. The intense yellow colour against the tyres, dirt and debris displays the theme well as i feel the coat has been left to disappear with the building. Natural lighting was used.
This Image was taken in the same abandoned warehouse and its surroundings. The bleak and miserable weather that day i feel contributed to the theme well and the natural light lit my scene reflecting the grime of derelict places.
Using a graduated filter i enhanced the dramatic sky that day and also used the warm artificial light from the fire to create this image.
I focused on reflections with this image to create a contrast between living things such as trees and plants to abandoned objects left to rot stranded. Natural lighting was used to capture the reflection.
My next location was to the coast in Barrow-In-Furness to capture shots of an old shipwreck left for years to rot on the beach. There were parts to the boat that were still recognisable such as the rudder which was the only part still attached. I used natural lighting for this image and increased the saturation to try and retain the colours of the boats old paintwork.
Again with this image i slightly increased the saturation and used natural lighting to evoke the theme.
For this image i thought about composition and how i could create contrast so i took from this angle to show the abandoned boat decaying and the docked boat on the horizon fully intact but still abandoned by the lack of tide.
Again composition was noted for these two images as in the 1st image i had the old boat laying in the background and an old rowing boat close up in the foreground . And in the second image i had the close up of the seaweed laden chain and the docked boat in the background.
This image was taken of an entrance to an old house which was evicted 5 years ago as it is situated too near the gas station and so is boarded up forever as it is now owned by the terminal. The gate shows stress as it has been mangled but reflects the story of the house and portrays abandonment.
I passed an old allotment in the car and noticed an this bent, rusty rugby post, i used a tinted filter to add depth and drama to the scene and natural lighting. I also visited a Cemetery to find what eerie objects were left to disappear. I came across an angel head stone with a broken wing which emulates a great loss such as a family member.
I used a graduated filter for this shot as it created an eerie skyline, the sunken gravestone reflects abandonment as it has been left for many years to sink lower and lower. The head stone is so old the lettering is wearing away and moss and grass is creeping in, in its place. Natural lighting was used.
