Capture Me

Tropical World

Tropically Tropical World
I don't enjoy the presence of Butterflies at the best of times so when faced with the prospect of thousands surrounding you as you try and shoot them (with the camera) it was a nightmare come true!

When i arrived to find they were all hiding i was relieved yet disappointed as i needed at least one tropical looking object to capture, maybe i could just buy a bottle of Rubicon or Um Bongo?

I had to Bare in mind Shutter Speed as this weeks element, as i had previously discovered Aperture a week earlier i had the hang of shutter speed, so off i went.

I firstly came across some mice in an infrared container, their fast erratic movement made for a very busy and contorted image.
I noticed many insects in the tanks, but this one remained still and was perched perfectly on a leaf enabling me to zoom in.
Again i had adjusted the settings and created a blue tint with a quicker shutter speed.
I took this image with a slow rear flash to create a little delay in the movement so i could get a more dynamic finish.
Using slow rear flash and fast shutter speed.
The vegetation in tropical world was beautiful and the colours stood out more than the creatures. I created this image by using the slow rear flash and fast shutter speed with a 2 point focus.
This was also captured with a slow rear flash and fast shutter speed.
The one waterfall i could find. I adjusted the shutter speed to capture the water in a still frame.
A butterfly on the hand rail, TOO close for comfort. I used auto flash for this image.
Cockroaches in an infrared container. I used flash and managed to get a still life image as they weren't moving.
This image was taken recently in Barcelona and i took it to display my skills with fast moving water as i failed to display such skills whilst at tropical world.
